Under the Weather
I woke up feeling under the weather today, but it wasn’t so much cold symptoms, but light-headedness, and nausea. What the bleep is going on? This reminds me of Steve Pavlina’s raw food trial where he reported getting sick on day two.
I don’t know if I’ve ever truly believed in “detox” symptoms, but I can’t help but wonder if that’s the culprit. I started feeling a bit sick from day one.
I had my regular morning spirulina tabs and lemon water.
The nausea got worse, and progressed to chills. After spending a few hours in bed, I felt well enough to head to my home office with space heater and herbal tea.
I eventually got hungry, so braved another green smoothie, this time with less flax and hemp seeds.

1 cup almond milk
Large handful baby spinach
1Tbps hemp seeds
1Tbsp ground flax seeds
After noon, I dediced to try my “granola crackers.”
Here’s how they turned out

They crumbled up nicely for some raw granola. I tried them as cereal with some almond milk

For some reason my almond milk tastes funky today. Its that blasted green stevia! It’s so disheartening so spend lots of money on a “health food” that tastes like crap. Live and learn I guess. I’m wondering if I am just using too much, or its simply terrible. I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish the package or not.
I just love my clear stevia extract in vegetable glycerin. The reason I went for the green stuff is that Gabriel Cousens recommended not to use an extract. The clear stuff’s only drawback is bitterness when overdone. When used in small amounts, you only taste sweet. The green stuff has a nasty flavor along with the sweet.
I haven’t had cereal with milk in over 6 months (maybe even a year, since I gave up most processed grains long ago). I have always loved cereal. The feeling of eating cereal and milk was great! I will definitely eat this again, but with a different batch of almond milk.
I also tried a few of my “granola crackers” with almond butter spread on top, sprinkled with salt. This hit the spot! One of my favorites so far on this trial.

These granola crackers of mine are severely lacking, though. I don’t think I could recommend them to someone. While I don’t mind eating them, the recipe needs help. I don’t see myself eating these long term. (*edit* My husband later told me he tried my creation and he loved them! Whaaat? Blows my mind, especially for a non-raw foodie).
Sometimes I think I’d rather just eat an apple. After the three month trial (phase 1 and 1.5, see phase chart), I’ll be able to eat the sweeter fruits on occasion. In fact, next month I’ll be able to have grapefruit and most berries. They will seem like the best thing I’ve ever eaten! Talk about learning to appreciate whole foods! Before, I rarely wanted to put blueberries in my smoothies. I always chose the sweetest, creamiest option – bananas, plus cacao. Now I’m counting the days to having some yummy low glycemic fruit.
I began feeling better and better as the day went on.
Snack
Whole avocado with salt
Dinner
Dinner was tough. I had no idea what to fix, and wasn’t hungry.
After making the family chili, I brainstormed, and decided to make a dressing out of the pistachio pesto from yesterday.
1Tbsp pistachio pesto
1Tbsp lemon juice
1Tbsp water
2Tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Wisked it all together and voila!
I mixed this with some romaine lettuce, arugula, and sliced cucumbers.

This was actually pretty tasty. The best salad so far.
Before the trial, I purchased a huge container of Organic Spring Mix greens, and am now realizing I only like that mix with sweet dressing. Oops. I already tried making a sweet lemon dressing and it was a failure. I may have to freeze the greens for smoothies.
Evening
Spirulina tabs
Lemon water & stevia
I’m really feeling the pressure of posting every day, as well as the limits to what I can eat. I’m craving so many foods! I know this will be worth it. When I get to add more foods, everything will taste so good.
Thanks for stopping by~
Live raw and be happy!
